To get certification, trainees should have an 80% passing score on both written and practical exams.

The minimum basics for becoming an overhead crane operator comprise possessing the physical and mental capability considered necessary to be able to do crane work. Essential capabilities consist of normal field of vision, depth perception, coordination, manual dexterity and reaction time. Potential operators should not have the tendency to become dizzy. Operators who do not already have proof of qualifications and experience must obtain certification.
